New Recording, Titled 'Country Walk (remix)'

Still working with mixing and editing. I've been trying to achieve a full sound and add some effects. Country Walk was my first attempt, and I wasn't really satisfied with the way it turned out. So here is a remix, using the original source tracks. No re-recording, just a new mix.

Country Walk (remix)

On this one, I used some track doubling again and added a little phase to the guitar lead and background vocals. Speaking of which, after many failed attempts at creating artificial harmonies on the vocal by playing with the pitch, I gave up. Each result was unique and an absolute abomination! A few tries had me laughing out loud at how bad they were! I mean, oh my God!

Anyway, I still intend to go back and re-take many of the tracks on this tune, especially the vocals. But since I haven't had much time to sit, play and record I'll put this next revision out there as a contrast. If you listen to both, the first version sounds really thin in comparison.

O.B.E.

This term comes to me from a former Navy submariner and means Overcome By Events. That pretty much describes me over the past few weeks. Lots of work. Lots of travel. So much for the lame excuses. Just didn't want folks to think I'd given up already.

Still no 'new' music to post, though. Which is really disappointing. I have vague hopes of being able to sit down for a little while this weekend and get a few tracks down. That would feel good.

Also, I am tumbling some ideas around for new projects. It's funny how quickly some skills rust. Not funny-ha-ha... more funny-sad. Writing is one of those. I get some ideas and inspiration that are just too big... still too personal... or basically crap. Lots of fits and starts.

But that's part of the reason I started this thing in the first place. To start getting stuff down 'on paper' in a way that will hopefully loosen the gears a bit. Get things flowing again.

So, here endeth the ramble. Just letting you know that I breathe, yet. And that my resolve has not faltered... I'm just battling the obstacles of any middle-aged white guy from the suburbs. Not the least of which is zero-ing in on things to say.

ugh...
